Hello and happy Sunday. We discovered some issues with the Caffeine
lab you are doing this week. While we have been able to make
modifications to the lab so that you can hopefully get reproduceable
data, I did not have time to rewrite my prelabs to incorporate the
changes. So, I am not goint to require you to do a prelab this week. I
will just give everyone those five points when I do the final BlackBoard
grade tally.
Now -- as far as the lab goes this week. You need to bring a colorless
or near colorless soda that contains caffeine. Mellow Yellow and
Mountain Dew tend to work great because they have a pretty high caffeine
content. Don't bring Sprite!
The modification to the lab is as follows -- the caffeine standard
solutions will be prepared for you before lab. You will still have to
make the solutions for you own soda, but the standards will be in the
lab already prepared for you to make you spectrophotometric calibration
curve.
