Here are the answers that I can type, I'll send out the rest in just a minute.
3. ionic bonding: electrostatic attraction between two oppositely charged elements hold bonds together. elements give/accept electrons
covalent bonds: compounds form between elements with similar properties and they are close enough to share the electrom
4. Ionic bonds occur between metals/non-metals. Covalent bonds occur between two non-metals.
5. Pure covalent bond: netural atoms held together by equally shared electrons
Polar covalent bond: Partially charged atoms held together by unequally shared electrons
Ionic bond: oppositly charged ions held together by electrostatic attraction

8. a. Formal Charge= valence electrons - 1/2(electrons in bonds) - electrons in lone pairs
b. The formal charges of each atom should add up to the overall charge of the compound

10. Bond enthalpy is the enthalpy change associated with breaking a particular bond in one mol of gaseous molecules

12. I threw this problem out and changed it to 8.79 part a. The answer to that is -2579 kJ/mol
diamagnetic: full orbital, should not interact
paramagnetic: slightly magnetic because of unpaired electron

isomers: compound with the same formula but a different arrangement of atoms in the molecule and different properties
cis: cis isomers have the same atom on one side of the compound (in Dr. Pound's example in class, the two Bromine atoms were on the bottom) while trans isomers have different atoms on one side of the compound (so in Dr. Pound's example, there was both H and Br atoms on the bottom rather than both Br atoms)
