Several of you have indicated that you are still having trouble
calculating the density of the unknown metal. Here are the relevant
equations.
Known Quantities:
$\rho_{\mathrm{water}}$ = Density of Water -- look it up based on the
lab temp that day.
A = mass of empty flask and stopper
B = mass of flask, stopper, and water
C = mass of flask, stopper, and metal
D = mass of flask, stopper, metal, and water
\documentclass{article} \usepackage[utf8x]{inputenc} \pagestyle{empty}
\begin{document} \rho_{\mathrm{metal}} =
\frac{C-A}{\frac{B-A}{\rho_{\mathrm{water}}} -
\frac{D-C}{\rho_{\mathrm{water}}}}} \end{document}
Please let me know if you have any problems reading the equation or if
you have other questions on how to calculate the density.
