I posted some of my notes on stoichiometry (things we did in class) on
the website in the REFERENCE section.
In your Alum lab, the aluminum is the limiting reactant and it reacts
1:1 to make the alum. In calculating the molar mass of the alum you
MUST remember that it is a hydrate and the mass of the associated waters
need to be included in the molar mass.
