Good Morning - and Welcome to Mercer!    Although we won't start
Chemistry 111 until next week, some of you are in the process of
purchasing textbooks.  Our textbook went into a new edition this past
year, so there are most likely two different versions at the Mercer
Bookstore - Burdge 4th edition and Burdge 5th edition.   Also, there are
both print (looseleaf a looseleaf copy you put in a binder) and an
electronic print edition.

You need ONE copy of the text.  Some students like the e-text version,
but based on experience most students prefer the printed copy.  I will
be assigning problems out of the 5th edition of Burdge.  You only need
to buy one edition - not both.

You also need a lab notebook as well as safety glasses for lab which
starts the second week of class.

A study guide with worked problems is also available, it is recommended
that you buy this, but it is not required.

Finally, you will be required to purchase an online access key to
Sapling - our online homework system.  You can do this at the Bookstore,
but it can also be done online with a credit card.  Details will be in
the syllabus that I hand out next Wednesday in class.

See you next week!
