Many of you are working on the lab this
weekend and have asked questions -- I will respond to the
individual questions as I can throughout the weekend. One thing
that was a general announcement that I needed to make relates to
what goes on the lab report form in the FINAL RESULTS box.

In the upper left hand corner of the box
record your unknown number.

In the middle top of the box record your
GRAPHICALLY DETERMINED density of water with proper units

In the right top of the box record the
literature value for the density of water you looked up at the
lab temperature. Include the citation for the literature
value on the bottom of the cover page. It should also be in
your lab report somewhere.

In the middle of the box underneath your graphically
determined density of water, write down the density of the
unknown metal you calculated using the graphically determined
density of water.

In the middle of the box underneath the literature value for
the density or water, write down the density of the unknown
metal you calculated using the literature value for the density
of water.

Underneath EACH of the densities in the bottom of the box,
identify the unknown metal.

The order of the pages after the cover page is described in the
syllabus. Please let me know if you have questions -- but it will
probably be late tonight before get to them.

Also note that I made a slight modification to the cover page
that is available online to make it clearer which boxes you can
check and which you should leave for the lab assistants.
