<p><font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">The extra credit
lectures were VOLUNTARY. You provided a service to the
Department of Chemistry by being there and you also got to hear
two other Ph.D.'s talk about calorimetry -- which was the topic
of the class and upcoming lab. Many of you made a special
effort to be there, even skipping lunch in some cases, and I
expressed my appreciation by giving extra credit points on two
different tests -- test 2 and test 3. Not attending the guest
lecture in no way negatively impacts your grade -- but making
the effort to come to the lectures probably both helped you with
some of the content from the class as well as garnering you a
few extra points . </font>
