<p>I got an e-mail yesterday asking about MO diagrams . Since the
actual construction of the orbital correlation diagram and
predicting the energetic positions of the molecular orbitals is a
bit beyond Gen Chem, I will provide you with the basic molecular
orbital diagram. I could easily ask you to label all of the
orbitals and populate them with electrons from a the two
interacting atoms. If you can properly populate it with electrons
then you should also be able to easily answer questions related to
bond order, etc.</p>
<p>I have provided an example problem from an exam I gave several
years ago. Please review it.</p>
