Good morning everyone. I know many of you are
recovering from a long Saturday (Family Weekend) followed by an
exciting football game. Go Bears!

I got up early this morning and posted the
solutions to quizzes 3, 4, and 5 on the class website. I then
graded quiz 5. The good news is that several of you got a
perfect score -- and one of your classmates now has 5 perfect
quiz scores! The bad news is that the class average on the
last quiz was a 10 out of 20.

There is, in my opinion, no way that the
majority of the class is ready for an exam on this content. I
have a little bit of flexibility in the schedule so I am going
to move the exam to the Wednesday AFTER fall break (October
13th). If you are not studying then now is the time to
start. If you are lost -- start asking for help.

While we will not take the exam this Wednesday
we will have another quiz. It will not be identical to the
content of the last quiz (which I thought was a gift because
over half of it was based on calculations you should have
already done for lab), but the quiz will be over material from
chapters 3 and 4.

While I can move back the test date, I MUST
start moving forward with content and lecture material to help
prepare you for upcoming labs. I will start chapter 5 in class
tomorrow. I just uploaded the class slides including the
content from chapter 5 to the class website.
