$\mathrm{PF_2}$ is the empirical formula. The problem asks for the
molecular formula. The molar mass lets me determine how many units of
the empirical formula are necessary to make up the molecular formula. In
this case the molecular formula would be $\mathrm{P_2F_4}$ -- with a
mass of 138 g/mol. Got it?
