The law of mass action here is..

\documentclass{article} \usepackage[utf8x]{inputenc} \pagestyle{empty} 
\begin{document} \mathrm{K_b = \frac{[NH_4^+][OH^-]}{[NH_3]}} 
\end{document}

or

$k_b = \frac{(x)(x)}{(.1-x)}$

if x is small compared to .1...

$k_b = \frac{x^2}{.1}$

solving for $x$

$x = \sqrt{(k_b)(.1)}$
