Please read carefully...
*I**TEM **ONE.*
Since I want you all to do exceptionally well on your test on Tuesday,
and I know that you will need to focus on that on Monday night, I am
going to postpone the lab due date to Wednesday. You still need to
prepare for lab on Tuesday (the concentration kinetics lab) but you can
have an additional day to get your lab reports (and graphs) ready for
turnin. I am picky about graphs and will talk about what I expect
tomorrow in class.
*ITEM TWO.*
I am also going to move the deadline for the Sapling work due tonight to
tomorrow night (Monday) at 11 pm (that gives some of you one additional
day to get it done). It also allows some of you time to knock out some
of the book problems and additional problems.
*ITEM T**HREE**.
* Since we moved the test to Tuesday, and the lab due date has been
extended, we will also move the "ask questions about the lab report"
time we talked about to immediately after the test. I have designed the
test to take about an hour. If you have questions about the lab then
please exit the room and then come back in once the last person has
completed the exam. We can then have an "open forum" on how to complete
the lab writeup.
***ITEM**FOUR**.
*
In order to get through Kinetics this week we will have to start those
lectures tomorrow. I have placed the lecture slides online in the
reference section of the class webpage for you to view, and if you like,
download.
*ITEM**FIVE**.*
While we will start Kinetics tomorrow I also promised some of you that I
would show you how to do problems where you convert between different
types of concentration units. I intend to do that first thing in the
morning. If, while you are working through problems from Sapling,
Burdge, or my Additional problems, come across problems tonight that
you simply cannot get (even with the online solutions provided) then
please send me those problem numbers tonight and I will try to work
through as many as I can tomorrow on the board before we dive into our
first lecture on Kinetics. It also REALLY helps me if you can tell me
what is confusing you so we can try and address any misconceptions about
the science.
If you do come to my office hours (1-3 tomorrow) be prepared to show me
your work and be ready to attempt the problem on the white board in my
office. As a theoretician, the whiteboard is often where am able to
track down mistakes in understanding.
As always, I will try to answer any questions I can via e-mail -- until
11 pm on Monday night.
