So technically today was the last day to withdraw from the course. I
just graded Exam 3 and 40% of the class made above an 80. 45% of the
class made below a 60. Some grades were extremely low.

I am not going to give the exams back yet, but I will gladly provide you
with your score on exam 3 if you send me an e-mail. Here is a rule of
thumb I use at this point of the semester.

If you must have a C in the course (to go on to Organic I) and you have
either:

1. Two test grades that are below a 50 or
2. Three test grades that are below a 60

then you might want to consider withdrawing from the course and taking
it at a later date. Please understand, I am not telling any of you to
withdraw from the course. I am just trying to provide some guidance to
help you all make an informed decision. Some of you are doing very
well. Others of you that are struggling could possibly turn things
around on the remaining exams -- but such miraculous comebacks are just
that - miraculous.

If you are considering withdrawing, we will need to handle that tomorrow
because it will require you to get a signature from an associate Dean.
I will be in my office tomorrow morning around 8:30 if you want to
talk. If you send me an e-mail request now for your exam 3 grade I
will send it to you before 7:30 am in the morning. If you come see me
tomorrow morning, please bring all of you prior exams and quizzes.

Finally... I will discuss my remediation plan for those that failed
exam 3, but who have no intention of dropping, during class tomorrow.
