After careful examination, I found that there is a typo in your
book.<br>

Please use the following for mercury...<br>

Hg<sup>2+</sup> (aq) + 2e<sup>-</sup> ---> Hg (l) +0.854 V<br>
<br>
and for aluminum...<br>
<br>
Al<sup>3+</sup> (aq) + 3e<sup>-</sup> ---> Al (s) -1.676 V<br>
