    <p>You don't need to copy everything down unless you think you need
      it.  You need enough information in your lab notebook so that you
      could complete the experiment without having the typed lab
      procedures in front of you.  Bascally go through the lab
      procedures and put into your notebook the steps in the order you
      would to them to conduct the experiment.   Be sure to include the
      exact amounts for the reagents you need and how you are supposed
      to combine them.  I also generally put some tables in my lab
      notebook for places where I know I am going to have to record data
      related to the experiment.</p>
