So the trick here is trying to find the volume of the metal by using
the masses of the other flasks and the density of water.<br>
<br>
See if this makes sense...<br>

<img style="vertical-align: middle"
src="cid:part1.01050409.02070606@mercer.edu" alt="$M_1$"> = mass
of empty flask<br>

<img style="vertical-align: middle"
src="cid:part4.01060807.06090402@mercer.edu" alt="$M_4$"> = mass
of flask, metal, and water<br>
<img style="vertical-align: middle"
src="cid:part5.01030601.07090408@mercer.edu" alt="$\rho$"> =

The total volume of the flask is given by <br>

<br>
The volume of water over the metal is given by<br>
<br>
<img style="vertical-align: middle"
src="cid:part7.03020203.07000102@mercer.edu"
alt="$\frac{M_4-M_2}{\rho}$"><br>
<br>
Because volume in this case is a conserved quantity, the volume of
the metal is therefore the difference in these two.<br>
