Scientists (and engineers...) -- I was looking back over the Mastering
completions and about half of you have finished chapter 5, some of you
have worked on chapter 6, but most of you haven't even thought about
chapter 8 yet. To your collective credit, many of you have been
emailing me questions about the homework -- that is GREAT! I have
been handling those as expeditously as possible while entertaining
out-of-town guests. Keep the questions coming. I've also been
handling questions about the computer project (which is due March 10)
via email at a high rate -- so kudos for that too.
We have a few more topics to go over in chapter 8 that are more
conceptual, but which also tie in to what we did at the beginning of
chapter 5. I am going to cover those final pieces of chapter 8
tomorrow and that has us current with the syllabus - except for the fact
we missed the proposed second exam date.
Because I want to make sure we are all ready for the second exam, I am
going to push it to a week from this coming Friday which will be *March
12*. The content of the exam will come from chapters 5,6, and 8. This
will give me some time to build you some "worksheets", go over them with
you, and also allow you to have four more days to get the Mastering work
done.
If things work as they did last year, the chapters on Chemical Kinetics
and Enzyme Kinetics will go pretty quick (we will go ahead and start the
coverage next week) -- and we should still be in a position to take our
exam on Kinetics as scheduled.
See you tomorrow!
