Kim asked me today about formatting displayed equations in Word
according to the ACS style guide. As many of you had this issue in
your first drafts I decided to respond to the whole class.<br>
<br>
Displayed equations appear centered in the column with a reference
number near the right margin. This is not something most of you
have ever had to do in Word and is not something that is easily done
in Word as Word is generally not designed specifically for the
scientist in mind. (In fact after completing my dissertation I
swore I would never use Word again for any of my scientific papers.)<br>
<br>
Anyway, I found a good website from Microsoft that explains how you
can get Microsoft Word to number the equations sequentially in your
document. Please check out the following.<br>
<br>
<style type="text/css">p { margin-bottom: 0.08in; }</style>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;"><a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/um/people/jckrumm/word%20tips/technical%20publishing.htm#Numbered">http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/um/people/jckrumm/word%20tips/technical%20publishing.htm#Numbered</a>
Equations</p>
<br>
If you have problems doing this just drop me some e-mail. I'm gonna
be up kinda late tonight working on calculations for some of my own
research.<br>
