Earlier this semester someone told me that they were having a lot of
difficulty finding anything related to graphics codes and algorithms for
the particular card that they chose.

Since much of the technology found in these cards is found in earlier
versions of the cards, I will gladly let you trace back to earlier cards
if that will help you complete the exercise.

For example, the NVIDIA GTX GeForce 480 has something called Z-Cull?
Was that feature it in previous cards in the same line? How far back in
the NVIDIA line does this feature go? At some point you will find when
a particular feature was introduced. Most likely the technical papers
related to this card will be found in the literature one to two years
before it showed up in the card.

Once you find out where a particular concept was introduced, dive into
to the other research component of this project.

Start to look up this idea in the literature and try and trace it back
to the original paper on the topic. Remember -- if you use campus
machines you should have full access to the ACM digital archives.

If you do start to trace things back through a product line, then
briefly explain the progression.

You will be amazed what you can find and you will be really proud of
yourselves when you start to see how all this stuff goes together.
