Good morning guys -- I spent the last four hours moving my 22 projects
from the old git server (apache.cs.mercer.edu) to the new git server
(gitlab.cs.mercer.edu). Since so few of you have done much on the old
gitlab server, it seemed like a really good time to make the change.
I created accounts for all of you on the new server - and you should get
a password reset request in your e-mail. If you do not, let me know. I
used the e-mail address you requested on the old git server as the
e-mail address on the new git server.
I moved over the movedot and brotate repositories and gave each of you
read access to them on the new server. If you want to continue to use
these as references for your code work, you will have to get on the new
server.
The only repository belonging to me that I have not moved is the
asteroids one (on which you all are listed as developers). I would like
to move this over by 3:00 pm today. If you have any commits that you
need to make to the asteroids repository then please do so immediately.
I think the only person this really applies to right now is J.T. --
once the repository is moved over you can all check it back out from the
new server.
Once you log in the new server you will have to install your ssh keys.
The good news is that you have already generated these on cobra. If you
get on cobra and cd to your .ssh directory, you can cat the file
id_rsa.pub and cut and paste that key into your gitlab ssh key database.
Now -- the following are the ONLY projects left on the old gitlab server:
Christopher Kennedy / relevant xkcd

days ago
Kevin Long / Arrow of Destiny

Christopher Kennedy / Block Rotatation

Tanner Perrin / Assignment 2

days ago
Joel T. James / Assignment 2

days ago
Pounds Courses / Tesselated Asteroids
<https://apache.cs.mercer.edu/admin/projects/pounds-courses/tasteroids>
18 days ago (gets moved today at 3 pm)
Joel T. James / Econometrics

Joel T. James / Lynch

You can, if you like, continue to work on these (with the exception of
asteroids) on the old server and next Tuesday in class I will show you
how to port them (with all of branches, tags, commits, and history) to
the new server. Its a multistep process, but pretty easy once you get
the hang of it.
After next Tuesday it is my intention to release apache.cs.mercer.edu
back to Michael for other uses.
So your ACTION ITEMS are...
Get on the new server, change your password, import your ssh keys, see
if you can check out code, create a project for assignment 2 if you have
not done so already, and start committing code to it.
Let me know if you have questions.
