[CSC 335] Project 1 Turnin

Thanks for everyone letting me know that their projects were complete
last night. I do need, for my records, an e-mailed project submission.
To accomplish this on cobra do the following...

cd to the directory that contains your project and move up one directory
level.

For example, if my username were bear_t and my project was in the
csc335/project1 directory I would do the following after logging into cobra

cd ~bear_t/csc335/project1
cd ..

Then I would "tar and zip" the folder placing it in a file (tar is short
for tape archive and places all of the contents in one file". The
following command tar's the file and also compresses it using the
highest level of compression.

tar -cvf - project1 | gzip --best >project1_bear.tgz

Now, on cobra the easiest way to e-mail this to me is use the e-mail
program "alpine" (thanks Travis). Just type alpine and it should bring
the program up. Send an e-mail to pounds_aj at mercer.edu with the
subject "Project 1 Submission". Alpine gives you the option to add an
attachment. So attach the gzipped tar file you just created.
According to Travis' test yesterday you will have to include the full
path to your file. In the case of the example above it would be

/home/bear_t/csc335/project1_bear.tgz

Your filename will obviously be different. Once you send it to me I
will send you a confirmation. Please get these to me by midnight
Friday. Mutt is another e-mail client on cobra that works in a similar
manner. I will be grading the e-mail submissions only.
