Class - being unable to sit at a computer the last few days has really
taken a toll on me and I want you all to know that I realize not being
able to contact me has also caused some undue stress on you as well.
With that said, and know that many of you are scurrying to get project 2
done I would like to ease your minds.
1. For those that did not submit anything on project 1 -- please try to
get me something by the end of this week.
2. I would like to reduce the point total for the class from 100 to
850. We will remove project two from the normal grade.
3. Getting project 2 complete and to me by tomorrow night (with the DFT
working properly and 4 integration techniques) will be considered EXTRA
CREDIT. I know some of you have been working hard on this and I want
you to get credit for your work.
4. The exam is scheduled Thursday night -- 7-10 pm. 1/3 of the final
will be from items covered in chapters 7, 8, and 10. You will not have
to take any partial derivatives, but you might have to set up some
matrices. Please review the Jacobi method and know how to use it. You
should also review the matrix forms of the least squares problems. The
remainder of the exam will pertain to algorithms and how to implement
them properly.
5. My plan is to be on campus for a few hours on Wednesday afternoon to
return the exams that some of you took. I am still waiting to find out
when I have to have some tests run - so I am having to schedule around
that. I will do my best to let you all know when I am going to be on
campus.
Now -- a modification to the syllabus requires a vote by the class with
a simple majority winning. If you are okay with the proposed syllabus
modification, please email me the following.
I AGREE WITH THE PROPOSED CHANGE.
if you do not want me to do this then please e-mail
I DO NOT AGREE WITH THE PROPOSED CHANGE.
Since I know that several of your classmates do not check e-mail from
this listserve, please spread the word so we can get this done.
