Okay gentlemen -- it is time that you started using the PBS job
scheduler as opposed to simply running in batch on zeus. Batch is fine
for little things that you want to let run for a few minutes -- but once
you cross roughly the 10 minute barrier, then I must insist that you
start running inside of PBS. This will also help protect the system
from runaway jobs by limiting the actual runtime. The default queue
time is one hour -- so if you need more than that be sure to specify it
in the PBS script.
If you need help setting up your scripts, please let me know.
Also, Michael got mail setup so that Zeus can send mail, but not receive
mail -- which is perfect for us. In your PBS job script include lines
like the following
#PBS -m abe
#PBS -M bell_ce at cobra.cs.mercer.edu
to send a notification when your job ends for any reason -- pick
whatever mail address you want to use -- or even specify multiple
addresses if you want.
