Good evening research team!
So tomorrow there is a CLA faculty meeting that I am required to attend
-- it is at 3:30. Therefore I will not be around for afternoon research
hours and there is no group meeting.
Maggi and Lauren -- I am assuming that you two will be at the Kolbe
Center sometime tomorrow. I have put in a request to have Vizard
installed in lab 405 -- but I have no idea how long that will take.
Mark and Sahid -- we need to see if we can get the same results from C++
that they got from the Java code for the demo genetic algorithm. You
can either work on this in the GSC or work on it in CSC lab 200.
Hannah -- see if you can get the Vandermonde matrix and its inverse
built so we can multiply them together via cuda. Based on our
conversation last week it might be worthwhile to build the Vandermonde
matrix with coefficents ranging from ±1.00001 to ±1.01. That should
help with the numerical stability. This type of matrix could be a great
starting point for your numerical methods research project.
Avery -- I did some work this weekend trying to get the Google Pages
fixed, but am waiting on a response from Google. Once that is fixed I
think you will be able to help me with some of the mapping stuff. In
the meantime, Hannah is working on a Fortran version of the Vandermonde
problem. You might want to attempt to take her code and write it in C.
Ultimately I would like to try both C and Fortran with CUDA and the
OpenBLAS for this problems as well as the eigenvalues of the Vandermond
matrix. I would also like to see your "tiny paper" on the matrix
multiplication using CUDA on the systems in Godsay.
Lastly -- I have been in consultation with the Library and one of the
librarians has offered to give us a tutorial on searching the ACM
digital library. I would like for us to do this soon. I'll provide
more feedback as I have it.
Okay -- one more thing. Right now GSC_405_01 is not booting. Please
make sure that you do not use this system. I have a call into IT -- the
system should still be under warranty if it is a hardware problem.
Stay safe out there...
