Good morning folks. After three weeks of working on getting the
computer science lab systems up and running properly I have turned my
attention to our systems in Chemistry. Early this morning I applied
just over 100 security patches/upgrades to Dock, installed a new kernel,
and installed the upgraded NVIDIA video driver. The system seems to be
running well, but let me know if you have any problems with your
specific software packages. I am particularly interested in autodock
and vino. The new driver could potentially boost the performance of
your docking programs if we compile against it.

On another note, I am currently planning on leaving Dock running CentOS
6. The CentOS foundation will continue to provide updates and security
patches for this until 2020 so the software will in all likelihood
outlive the hardware. However, if any of you have a pressing need to
run CentOS 7 (in other words you have software that REQUIRES libc or
libstdc++ version 6 or above) then let me know. We may can build an
experimental server to try things out.

Andy
