[CSC 125] Completing the Access Capstone Assignments -- Problems
Opening File

Several of you have had problems "opening" the Access capstone
assignments. You get messages like "file doesn't exist" or "key not
found". Here's what is going on.
You MUST save the Access database files on your computer (so rather than
"opening" them in your browser, pick the "save" option). Make SURE
you know where you are saving the file, as you will need to upload from
the location later. If you don't do this then you will end up sending
me a "link" on your computer -- which I will obviously not be able to
open and grade.
If you are curious why it has to work this way, once you open the Access
database go look at the directory where you saved the Access database.
You will see a "lock" that has to be generated on your computer and that
HAS to be created on your computer so that you are the only person
modifying the database. Once you close Access, the lock file will
disappear.
Let me know if you still have problems opening the file -- but actually
saving it and working on the local copy should solve most of the
problems that have been reported to me so far.
