The symmetry capsule is now available on the class website. This is a
small self-study exercise to acquaint you with the basic ideas of
symmetry, symmetry operations on molecules, and point groups. You may
work together to complete the exercises, but please make sure you know
how to identify symmetry elements and point groups as they will appear
in discussions we have in the future related bonding, spectroscopy, and
statistical mechanics.

Your individualized data sets are also available for this project on the
class web page. Use the same password that you used to access the data
for the computational tools capsule. To view the Cartesian geometry
files I recommend that you use the program JMol. You can get a copy off
of the USEFUL LINKS section of the class webpage.

Let me know if you have any questions.
