Graphics Students -- since some of you are working on the homework that
is due tonight, I am not going to cover new material in class today.
One thing I would like you all to try is to take the perspective code
that I gave you and convert it from a static display of the two boxes to
an animation where the boxes rotate about the Z-Axis while leaving the
position of the axes unchanged. Basically as each box spins around the
axis it should eventually occupy the space/position of the other box.
This will require modifying several sections of the code and adding
things like a glutIdleFunc function, calls to glutPostRedisplay,
glutSwapBuffers, etc.
You do not have to work in GSC 218 today if you would prefer to practice
extreme social distancing. My plan is to come to the lab briefly to
answer questions there and then head to my office to answer Zoom
questions.
I will post the last homework assignment related to the lighting/color
model used in OpenGL later today and will cover that material on Monday
of next week. While lighting and shading are some of the more difficult
subjects in graphics, we are going to simply talk about the model at a
high level and the homework is designed just to help you understand how
it works. I have no intention of actually implementing lighting and
shading this semester.
