Okay, I have an update for you. I THINK I figured out what was causing
the problem in the labs. I won't know officially until I test it either
Sunday or Monday morning -- but when I left the lab last night I was
able to at least log on to one of the lab computers.
In the meantime, this morning I created a short video on how to create
the colored points. You will find it on CANVAS.
Since we really do not have a textbook (I am creating a lot of this
shader code on the fly or drawing from a multitude of sources) and since
I don't have a classroom with a projector or a whiteboard in the same
room you are coding, I think the best way to move this class forward
faster is for me to create more videos with maybe some "powerpoint"
thrown in occassionally. That way we can spend out time in class
utilizing the hardware, make progress on our projects, and sharing ideas.
You are the first set of students that has gone through my
"shader-version" of the course, please be patient - I know you are
chomping at the bit to dive into coding - and that time will be here
sooner than you know it. I just remember when I first went through
shaders it was a steep learning curve -- probably because I had 20 years
computer graphics programming under my belt. There are VERY few
undergraduate texts that even attempt this in the manner I am using.
You put that with the "physical simulation" aspect of the course and you
have something that is quite unique.
