[CHM 115] Pre lab

So the trick here is trying to find the volume of the metal by using the 
masses of the other flasks and the density of water.

See if this makes sense...

$M_1$ = mass of empty flask
$M_2$ = mass of flask and metal
$M_3$ = mass of flask and water
$M_4$ = mass of flask, metal, and water
$\rho$ = density of water

The total volume of the flask is given by

$\frac{M_3-M_1}{\rho}$

The volume of water over the metal is given by

$\frac{M_4-M_2}{\rho}$

Because volume in this case is a conserved quantity, the volume of the 
metal is therefore the difference in these two.
